The innate capacitance of human body can be detected with just two of the Arduino pins and resistors. Taking a step further, the capacitance detection can be used to make a simple game controller composed entirely of capacitance detecting materials, 1M ohms resistors, wires, Arduino board and the processing. Tested out the Arduino code for one sensing pin based on the code for capacitive sensing library on Arduino.cc. Aluminum foil was used in the place of the conductive fabric at first. The capacitance values were detected by the device, but there seems to be a lag of about 5 seconds or more between the detection and the value display. Our specified Baud rate might be the reason for the delay.
The circuit was built with aluminum foil, paper clips and a cardboard piece that will later turn into a game controller (needs a make over badly). There seems to be a significant amount of error with the code, and thus the mechanics of the code is in the process of being scrutinized.
